This does NOT move in a big blow. It acts as the foundation of our floating house.

We do not drag.

CHAIN AND RODE

60m of chain of 10mm high test chain as well as 110 metres of 28mm 8 plait rode are all marked. Red, white and blue every 10 metres.  Very easy to calculate how much chain and rode is out.

The rode (8 plait) is spliced straight onto the chain.

Stern anchor is a Fortress F37 aluminium anchor. Big enough to use as a primary.

WINDLASS

The windlass has it’s own brake so lowering your tackle is nice and easy.

DEEP WATER ANCHORING:

With the 60 metres of chain and 110 metres of 28mm 8 plait, you can anchor in 50 metres of water.

Sometimes deep anchoring is necessary. North of Sicily we were forced to anchor in 42 metres when the protected anchorage was jam pacaked solid with boats. The wind picked up at midnight (as it will) and we sat solid as a rock. Unfortunately for those in the anchorage, many dragged and had to up anchor and relocate.
